Does your dog have a sensitive stomach? Here's how to help him and ease the pain.
If you’re reading this, chances are you have a dog with a sensitive stomach. If not, then it’s very likely that you know someone who does.
Dogs with sensitive stomachs can experience diarrhea, vomiting, gas and even runny eyes or nose. These symptoms may be mild or severe enough to disrupt your dog’s quality of life and even his sleep patterns—which is no good for anyone!
The good news is that there are things you can do to help your dog feel better. Here’s a list of suggestions for how to soothe a sensitive stomach in dogs
- Give your dog a probiotic. Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that help keep the digestive tract healthy. They can be found in most types of yogurt and also in some dog foods. Raw goat milk is one of the best probiotics for dogs on the planet -- and we have it at Dee-O-Gee. Mix it in with kibble to hydrate the food.

- Check the ingredients in your dog’s food. If you’re feeding him dry kibble, make sure there are no additives or preservatives. You may want to switch to a grain-free option or homemade diet instead.
- Consider MIXOLOGY! Mix it up! Change his diet from time to time. You eat different proteins each day and he should as well. If he’s been eating the same thing for months on end, try switching things up with some new and different flavors (just be sure they’re all healthy). Try different brands like Stella & Chewy's, Fromm, Square Pet, Nulo, Zignature, and more!
- Feed him smaller meals more frequently. If your dog is eating too much at once, it can cause his stomach to bloat and make him feel sick.
- Offer some vegetables or fruit as a snack. Try cucumber slices or apple wedges for something sweet; carrots, broccoli and cauliflower are good options if you’re looking for something savory.
If you’re concerned about your dog’s health, it’s a good idea to discuss his diet with your vet. They can help you identify any potential issues and work with you to create an appropriate diet plan that works for both of you.
Dogs with sensitive stomachs should not have to experience diarrhea, vomiting, or the other problems associated with this issue. Your dog’s quality of life is of utmost importance and Dee-O-Gee is here to help you in any way we can!
